The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) organized a national consultation workshop to introduce and discuss the newly developed MSMEs Online Support Center Portal—a transformative digital platform aimed at supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Somalia.

The event was officially opened by Director General Ibrahim Ahmed Osman, alongside the Director of the MSMEs & Cooperatives Department, with participation from key public and private sector actors. Among the distinguished attendees was Mr. Mohamed Abdi Elmi, Director of the Jamhuriya Incubation Center,, who actively contributed to the discussions around how digital tools can accelerate the growth and sustainability of Somali MSMEs.

The MSMEs Online Support Center, developed with the support of the World Food Programme (WFP Somalia), is designed to serve as a centralized platform for Somali entrepreneurs. It will provide critical services such as business registration guidance, access to finance, market information, training opportunities, and regulatory support—all accessible online.

This initiative represents a major milestone in Somalia’s journey toward building a resilient, inclusive, and digitally empowered economy. It underscores the government’s commitment to enabling small businesses and startups, which are the backbone of economic development and job creation in the country.
